The Music Appreciation group meets in members’ homes for about two hours.  Members take it in turn to host the meeting and there is usually a theme to the recordings played.  There is always an interval for tea and cake with conversation!

You may find a programme of old favourites or meet a composer you have not heard before.  In recent years we have enjoyed afternoons of (amongst others) Brahms, Mendelssohn, Purcell, Rossini, Shostakovich and Wagner.  Other meetings have had a theme like Welsh Music, Summer (including Delius, Gershwin, Flanders and Swann, and Berlioz), Chamber Music, or Christmas.

Our first meeting in 2021 will be hosted by John and Stephanie Bartlett.  John will perform a piano programme of Rachmaninov, Grieg and Beethoven.  We are now putting together a programme for the rest of the year.

Each year we have been delighted to welcome piano students from the Yehudi Menuhin School, arranged by our previous coordinator, Peter Collett.  Performing musicians are always welcome at our meetings.
