We ask that money is paid in advance of the performance if possible although tickets can be bought on the door subject to availability.

We need to have an idea of the numbers of those who would like to come along and, at this price for seeing unforgettable performances, why not?

So, please confirm if you would like to attend by emailing me at:  opera-ballet@horsleyu3a.org.uk

The ballet received 5* reviews in November 2021 when performed at the Royal Opera House.

Giselle was revolutionary in its time. A real heroine, not a fairytale princess, a peasant girl seduced and betrayed by an aristocrat.  Giselle’s love for Albrecht is obvious  throughout and her descent into madness as she realises he is not the peasant he pretended to be but is Duke Albrecht and  already engaged eventually leads her to her dying of a broken heart. She becomes one of  the Willis, the ghosts of young women who died before their wedding day, who rise from their graves to kill any man who is in the woods at night by dancing with them until they die. However she is able to save Albrecht from this fate by dancing with him until dawn.
